An Apostille is simply the name for a specialized State Government certificate attached to a foreign bound document, issued by the California Secretary of State. The Apostille, which contains a stamped red seal, is attached to your original document to certify that the notary public is a legitimate and licensed public official, or your document is a valid document with genuine authorized signatures of your county or state government officials and will be accepted by one of the foreign countries who are members of the Hague Apostille Convention, of the year 1961.
